Villagers got stuff done in 2025!
This year we replanted four of the beds on the village green with pollinator-friendly plants. This involved some serious digging, new soil, lots and lots of weeding and watering (it was quite a hot summer this year).
We’re sure it won’t be long before the new beds are looking as fabulous as the beds near the well which got the star treatment a few of years ago.
The hardest job this year has been removing bamboo from Lillian’s garden.
The bamboo got out of control over the last couple of years, popping up in places it was never intended to go! Removing it has involved machinery and a lot of back-breaking work to pull out the roots. This was achieved over several big pushes from villagers this year to get on top of garden maintenance and resulted in two skips being filled.
Our next job is to figure out what is going in its place. At the very least we hope to have more picnic-style seating.
